The hit Netflix series will once again follow ten singletons who take over a lavish villa in the Caribbean in the search of love. Their actions are under the scrutiny of virtual assistant Lana, voiced by Desiree Burch.
The cast will need to stick to the rules and abstain from sexual contact to keep any prize money as any breach of the rules (kissing, heavy petting, sex or self-gratification) will result in a deduction from the final amount.
A trailer for the new episodes of Too Hot to Handle was released last month, featuring TV icon Lopez seemingly in the position of host of the show—but is all as it seems?
Newsweek has everything you need to know about Lopez and his new role on Too Hot to Handle.
Who Is Mario Lopez?
Lopez, 49, is an actor and television host who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of A.C. Slater on Saved by the Bell.
As well starring in Saved by the Bell: The College Years, and the 2020 sequel series, Lopez has had roles on Eve, Nip/ Tuck and The Bold and the Beautiful.
He has also hosted shows like The X Factor and America’s Best Dance Crew.
Lopez married dancer, actor, and producer Courtney Mazza in 2012. The couple share a daughter, Gia, and two sons, Dominic and Santino.
Is Mario Lopez hosting Too Hot to Handle Season 4?
The short answer is no, though it’s slightly more complicated than a definitive answer.
Since the fact that contestants are taking part in Too Hot to Handle is kept a secret from them, Netflix has to come up with another reason for them to travel to the tropical destination and be filmed by the cameras.
Each season the singletons have believed they are on the cast of different, fictional dating shows and they are not told they are on Too Hot to Handle until they have already met their co-stars and settled into their new accommodation.
This time around the contestants will think they are taking part in a high-stakes series called Wild Love, hosted by Lopez. What they don’t know is that they are actually entering the world of Too Hot to Handle.
Netflix released the trailer for the new Too Hot to Handle last month and in the clip, fans see Lopez fronting Wild Love, the fake show that the contestants believe they are participating in.
A voiceover explains in the trailer that because so many people now know about Too Hot to Handle from its super-successful first three seasons, the producers had to go even bigger with the fake show this time around.
So, Lopez is acting as the fake host of fake show Wild Love to give the elaborate ruse credibility to the unsuspecting contestants, but he is not actually hosting Too Hot to Handle.
There will be 10 episodes in the fourth season of Too Hot to Handle, with the release will be split into two parts.
The first five episodes will land on Netflix on December 7, and the next five will follow on December 14.
