If the Film & TV on your system is working slowly or not working at all, here are some ways to help you get it working again.

1. Run the Microsoft Store Apps Troubleshooter

The first port of call to fix the Film & TV is the built-in Windows troubleshooter for UWP apps. The troubleshooter scans the app files for common issues and recommends solutions accordingly.

To run the Microsoft Store Apps troubleshooter, follow the below steps:

Open the System Settings by pressing the Win + I hotkeys. In the System tab, scroll down and choose the Troubleshoot option. Choose Other troubleshooters in the following window. Scroll down to Microsoft Store Apps and click the Run button next to it.

The troubleshooter will scan your system for any available issues and recommend fixes. Follow the onscreen instructions to implement the fixes successfully.

2. Check for Any Available App Updates

Windows regularly receive updates for all the UMP apps. New updates enhance the app’s performance and eliminate bugs.

You can update the Film & TV app by following the below instructions:

Open the Microsoft Store. Type Films & TV in the search bar and press Enter. If there’s any available update, you will see the Update button under the app name. Click on it to download the update.

After the update is downloaded and installed, restart your computer and check for the problem.

3. Check Your System Settings

Most UWP apps, including the Films & TV app, will not work if your computer’s time, date language, and region settings are incorrect. You’ll have to correctly configure these settings to get the app working again. Here’s how to do it:

That’s it. Check if the problem is fixed or not.

4. Delete Your Computer’s Temporary Files

Programs and apps store their temporary files in the Temp folder. But sometimes, this folder can get corrupt and cause various issues, including the one at hand.

The solution, in this case, is to clear the content of the Temp folder. Here’s how:

Open the Run dialog box (see how to open Run for more information,) type Temp in the search bar, and click OK. Press Ctrl + A to select all the files and folders, and then press Shift + Delete to delete them permanently.

5. Restore Default Libraries

The Film & TV will crash or not open at all if you have deleted one of the default libraries. You will have to restore the default libraries to fix the issue. To do this, follow the below instructions:

Press Win + E to open Windows Explorer. Click on the three dots at the top, and choose Options. Switch to the View tab. In the Advanced settings section, scroll down, and check the Show libraries option. Click Apply > OK. Click Libraries in the left panel. Right-click on each library and choose Delete from the context menu. Right-click on Libraries again in the left panel, choose Show more options and then select Restore default libraries.

All the library data is now restored. Now, check if the problem persists.

6. Reset the Film & TV App

Windows 11 comes with a reset option that you can use to eliminate most of the UWP app issues. When you reset a UWP app, it automatically gets restored to its default settings.

You can reset the Films & TV app by following the below steps:

Open System Settings and choose Apps from the left panel. Select the Installed apps option in the following window. Locate and click on three dots next to the Films & TV app. Choose Advanced options from the context menu. Scroll down and click on the Reset button. Then, click the Reset button once more to confirm your selection.

That’s it. Launch the Films & TV app and check if the problem is fixed. If you are still facing the issue, use the Repair option. The repair option lets you repair the program installation without getting into the hassle of reinstalling it.

To repair the Films & TV app, head towards Start > System Settings > Apps > Apps and features. Here, locate and click the three dots next to the Films & TV app. Select Advanced options from the menu that pops up.

Next, scroll down and click the Repair button to start the process. Once the app is repaired, you will see a checkmark next to the Repair button.

7. Reinstall the Films & TV App

The possibility is high that the Films & TV app has become unresponsive due to corruption in its files. The best solution, in this case, is to reinstall the app.

Unfortunately, UWP apps don’t have the classic Uninstall button. So, you will have to use a command-line tool like Windows PowerShell to uninstall the Films & TV app. Here’s how to do it:

Launch the Start menu by pressing the Win key. In the search bar, type Windows PowerShell and choose Run as administrator from the right pane. In the elevated PowerShell window, type the following command and press Enter. This command will uninstall the Films & TV app from your computer. get-appxpackage Microsoft. ZuneVideo | remove-appxpackage Next, open the Microsoft Store and search for the Films & TV app. Click the Get button next to the Films & TV app to begin the download process.

After the app is installed on your computer, launch it and check for the issue.

Fixing the Films & TV App in Windows 11
